Chinese Agencies Struggle Over Video Game
To save you the trouble of reading the article (please just pick one term for the Chinese General Administration of Press and Publication and STICK WITH IT): two governmental agencies are sparring over which of them has the ultimate power over WoW's fate. There's nothing new about the switch between WoW's Chinese operators, or about the game's downtime, or about the government's desire to sanitize the Internet and online games (e.g. banning certain gangster related games, regulating gold farming, etc.) but I hadn't known there was any question over exactly which agency in the government gets to regulate online gaming. Hilarious. |

Can your baby get pregnant if you have sex while pregnant? (from Yahoo! Answers)
What's surprising is how many people answer yes. My favorite answer: "Yes, however this phenomenon is most common in Russia. See Also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matryoshka_doll"
If I remember right some aphids are born pregnant, although I'm having trouble finding a source for this. But the question is about people. |

On a similar note, I'm headed to Boston next week. ( there will be BRUNCH )
( there are other details, too, though )
And you'd better appreciate having me in town while you have me since Carina will be at home all sad and lonely. Again.

So last night got bad enough that I went to the ER, expecting a multi-day hospital stay, because I couldn't even get up to go to the bathroom.
Instead, they told me what I was doing wrong! Which is more useful, really.
* I should take whatever amount of pain meds allow me to function, within reason. Yes, being on two percoset may make my "raar I don't need substances" part of my personality cry, but it makes the rest of me much less likely to devolve into a screaming cursing spasming mass that is a burden on my housemates and fiancee.
* They were like "Huh what you spent most of the last two days lying on the couch? No wonder you're in here screaming!" Apparently a couch is not a hard enough surface for someone in my situation to lie on; they recommended "some blankets on the floor".
* It turns out having perfectly fine arms but a complaining leg means that I can get around on crutches, barring it being one of those screaming crying spasmy fits. Having the crutches around is pretty useful, just for basic-getting-around tasks, though I have not yet mastered the art of "carry a cup of water, on crutches"
So after I got back, we fashioned all my comforters into a pad in the living room, and I slept there. I little more painful in general than sleeping in my bed, but I feel a lot better today! I'll probably sleep on the floor for a few more nights, and then maybe when I feel a bit better about stairs I'll graduate to the firm futon in my room.

Bicycle tire sterling earrings:

A copper pendant that's got a sort of alternate history precolumbian steampunk look:

So open studios! November 21 and 22, noon to 6pm. Here's a Google Maps link to the studio location. It's a bit tricky the first time you're looking for it, but they now have a bright yellow door and a sign saying "Joy Street Studios" and stuff. I'm upstairs in studio 19. I don't need my friends to show up and buy stuff, I need my friends to show up and keep me company and induce random open-studio-goers to at least look at my stuff (by making my studio look like the place where all the cool kids are ^_^) |

We'll be hosting a large-ish Thanksgiving dinner at Graham St. this year. If you're in Pittsburgh and would like to join us, please consider yourself invited (and let me know if you'll be coming). |

I'm confused. Are people actually boycotting Maine lobster, or is it just a joke? |

Waiting anxiously for election results from various places.
Unfortunately, it seems that the Cambridge results are going to be delayed for quite a while because of the "I'm Decking with Marjorie Sticker" write-in campaign.

It's election day! Go vote if you're registered! Especially if you're in a place with important ballot initiatives (I'm not sure I know anyone from Maine), but hey, local elections are important too.
I hear there will be punch and cake. |
